Came to US and Wisconsin at age 14 (April 1880), with money sent by "Uncle Kern."
Served as a minister in the Wisconsin Conference of the Evangelical Association from 1891-1919. He retired in 1919 and moved to Naperville, Illinois, where his two daughters, Lydia and Esther were attending college.
Was strongly Pietistic and didn't get along with the Milwaukee and Chicago relatives.
Filed naturalization appliation 21 October 1886, in Sheboygan.
